Addicted to Books (Robert Palmer's "Addicted to Love" Parodied): Singalong with Brockeim

Addicted to Books
(severe apologies to Robert Palmer)
Get this as a poster: "Addicted to Books" parody of "Addicted to Love" $14.34

You're logging on to Amazon
Your mind is not your own
You want to read, your body shakes
Another word is what it takes

You can't sleep, you can't eat
There's no doubt, you're in deep
Your eyes are wide, you can't breathe
Another word is all you need

Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah

It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough, you know you're

Gonna have to face it, you're addicted to books

You see the sales, you know the creed:
Postal guy brings them at doublespeed.
The binding's good, stitched just right
Another word and you're alive, but pay no mind

You can't be saved
Dozens more books are what you crave
If there's some you've not read
You don't mind if I do

Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah

It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough, you know you're

Gonna have to face it, you're addicted to books

Might as well face it, you're addicted to books
Might as well face it, you're addicted to books
Might as well face it, you're addicted to books
Might as well face it, you're addicted to books
Might as well face it, you're addicted to books

You're logging on to Amazon
Your will is not your own
Your tea seeps -- coffee grinds
Another page and you'll be fine

Whoa, you like to think that you're immune to the stuff, oh yeah

It's closer to the truth to say you can't get enough, you know you're

Gonna have to face it, you're addicted to books

Might as well face it, you're addicted to books
Might as well face it, you're addicted to books
Might as well face it, you're addicted to books
Might as well face it, you're addicted to books
Might as well face it, you're addicted to books

We live in a world all broken, stumbling and fumbling through every moment's breath.

Around us are images calling to us like sirens. There's wine, women and song. Sex, drugs, and rock-n-roll. What's out there is out there, but somehow, if you are reading this, you must be different. Wine offers you no buzz worth sipping for, and the rest of it is just noise, visual and audible, emotional and artistic... but noise just the same. You have a different solution, and it is made of paper. The books in libraries and bookshops sneak toward you late at night and ease their way onto your nightstand. The 60 Watt bulb light barely touches your book, but it lets you read... precious reading.

Think of those times up late, crouched in the living room, eyes sprawling heinously devouring every word. Only one way to find out whodunnit, if she'll kiss him, if he'll save little Billy, if Lassie will come home, and if the Russians and the USA were in cahoots in the Cuban Missile Crisis because of Marilyn Monroe and Kennedy. You don't know how the "Left Behind" series will end, but you're onto it, as well as the others topping the charts. You've got to read.

I hope you enjoy my parody.
