A Dozen Roses
by Brockeim

Eighty-three cents a rose.
And every thorn on every rose a penny,

She took his roses, and every thorn, and said to him,
"I've always loved a rose, but a rose has never loved me."
So he laid the roses on the ground, and picked the whitest flower
And now to her he gives a daisy every day,
and onto him her love she showers.
